Are you making the most of your Council for Voluntary Service?
If you are a community or voluntary group your local CVS can help and support you in lots of ways.
Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS) exist to support the voluntary and community sector in their locality through:
providing information and support services - such as fundraising advice, charitable registration, training, equipment loan, photocopying, regular newsletters
representation - providing a voice for the voluntary and community sector and representing its views to the public and private sectors
liaison - opportunities to network with other organisations and groups, and ensuring that the voluntary and community sector is represented on different partnerships
development - helping new groups get established, starting new services to meet a recognised need, helping groups adapt to change
In Hampshire each district and unitary authority area has an independent CVS; each one has a Volunteer Centre to promote volunteering. CVSs are membership charities and are controlled by representatives of charities in the area they serve.
You can find the details of your nearest CVS by looking in the Voluntary and Community Sector Support category on the e.VOLve front page.
