  • Emsworth Maritime & Historical Trust (Emsworth Museum)
    Emsworth Museum contains many fascinating displays, showing the history of local seafaring families, boat building, fishing and coastal trade in grain and coal. Also memorabilia relating to Sir Peter Blake (round the world yachtsman and environmentalist) and P G Wodehouse (many of his characters' names are based on local locations) - both were Emsworth residents. In addition the David Rudkin Room contains special exhibitions that are changed monthly.

    Informal research group, meets at Westbury manor museum once a month for talks on local history and related topics- membership up to 80 but no limit. Aims to keep alive, record and save Fareham's past and ever changing present. Produces a booklet 'Fareham Past & Present' twice yearly - present cost £2.00 + p&p. Mrs Alice James has produced books 'Fareham Between the Wars' £5; and 'Around Fareham' £9.99 - Book No 4 Aspects of Fareham £9.99. Welcomes new members.

    Fawley Historians (formerly Fawley Local History Group) since founded in 1959 have collected information and photographs of the Waterside Parishes. Changes have been recorded where possible, growth of industry for example. Help has been given by members to researchers, students and local schools. Donations and grants have contributed to conservation.

  • Fordingbridge Society
    Our main objective is to improve the life of those living in Fordingbridge and the surrounding villages. We arrange interesting talks for members, these are usually held in St Mary's Church Hall during the winter season. We have visits in the summer to places of interest. A newsletter 'The Fordingbridger' is issued to members three times a year to keep up to date with news.

  • Friends of The Curtis Museum & Allen Gallery, Alton
    The Friends of the Curtis Museum and Allen Gallery were originally founded in 1934 and are a group of people interested in promoting the Museum and Gallery. From 1980, the Newsletter of the Friends of the Curtis Museum and Allen Gallery included small articles of local history interest which some thought worthy of keeping for reference. With a growing interest in the past, it was thought desirable to provide an opportunity for those undertaking a wide range of local history research to see the results in print. The ALTON PAPERS are the result. Since the first volume, which was published in 1997, there has been a new one produced each year containing articles on Alton and the surrounding villages.

  • League of Friends of Aldershot Military Museum
    Museum depicts history of Aldershot camp since its inception in 1855 and subsequent changes including reference to Boer War (1899-1902), Great War (1914-1918), Second World War (1939-1945) and reconstruction after 1960. The civilian history of Aldershot and Farnborough is featured in the new Rushmoor Gallery.

  • Mary Rose Trust
    The world held its breath as the Mary Rose was raised from the Solent seabed in 1982. DVD os ship & films shown on projector. Nearby is a museum of reconstructions, audio-visual presentations and one thousand recovered artefacts: The perfect Tudor time capsule. 24 hour booking hotline on 023 9286 1512. Visits to local community groups - in particular special needs, free of charge. The ship hall is closed until new museum completed in 2012, but the museum remains open.

    We meet each month from September to July. During the summer months we visit sites of local historical interest. The rest of the time we have talks concerned with things of interest. Recent events have been talks on Imber - The lost village on Salisbury Plain, memories of Paulton Park and a tour of Highcliffe Castle. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available after the meeting. Subscription affiliates members to Lower Test Valley Archaeological Society in addition to membership of History group.

    The Society was formed in 1984 with the principal aim of the advancement of the education of the public into the history of all the British Victorian fortifications. The PFS also assists in the improvement of the fortifications for the public benefit. The PFS has a diverse membership spread all over the UK, as well as other parts of the world. The membership includes men, women and families of all ages and the activities vary from visits, through research to work parties. Members receive the Society's journal 'The Redan' and newsletters.
