    Informal research group, meets at Westbury manor museum once a month for talks on local history and related topics- membership up to 80 but no limit.     The world held its breath as the Mary Rose was raised from the Solent seabed in 1982. Today visitors view the over ship hull from air conditioned viewing galleries.   • Palmerston Forts Society
    The Society was formed in 1984 with the principal aim of the advancement of the education of the public into the history of all the British Victorian fortifications. The PFS also assists in the improvement of the fortifications for the public benefit. The PFS has a diverse membership spread all over the UK, as well as other parts of the world. The membership includes men, women and families of all ages and the activities vary from visits, through research to work parties. Members receive the Society's journal 'The Redan' and newsletters.

  • Royal Marines Historical Society
    The Royal Marines Historical Society was formed on 28th October 1964, the Corps Tercentary year by a group of enthusiasts who had been exchanging information on Corps History. The first newsletter was published in April 1968. The objectives are to carry out research into the History of the Royal Marines, its opertions, traditions, awards and uniforms. To work closely with the Royal Marines Museum to promote a general interest in Corps History and inform the Museum of items of interest. To carry out detailed research into particular historical projects.

    Society for Nautical Research (South) is the South of England branch of the Society for Nautical Research. Founded in 1962, its object is to encourage research into matters relating to ships, seafaring and other subjects of maritime interest, particularly as they affect the locality. Outings are also arranged to maritime sites.

  • Southampton Ancient Egypt Society
    Our programme consists of 10 monthly lecture meetings when speakers from a range of Egyptological backgrounds present illustrated slide talks. In addition we meet for occasional Members Meetings with speakers from our own Society who wish to share their enthusiasm for Ancient Egypt. Throughout the year the Society makes visits to museums exhibitions and collections of Egyptological interest.

    The Cromwell Association was founded in 1935 to commemorate Oliver Cromwell the great Parliamentary Leader of the Civil War era.   • The Yateley Society
    The Yateley Society is a registered charity to benefit the parish of Yateley. A local Amenity Society registered with the Civic Trust, which carries out research and informs the public about local history, including local family history, and natural history encouraging good standards of Town Planning and undertakes practical nature conservation work. AGMs are held in February. The Society also offers a programme of talks and events relating to its activities. These are generally open to non-members.
