Age Concern (Bishopstoke)
Our main purpose is running the Riverside Club for retired local people over 55 which meets at the Memorial Hall on Friday afternons from 2 - 4pm, and provides an opportunity for them to meet their friends. We have entertainment, mostly musical, but also talks/slides and bingo. Tea & biscuits are served and a collection is made to cover this and a membership subscription.We run a shopping bus on Tueday mornings for members. On Friday afternoons handicapped members and those who do not live near a bus stop are picked up from their homes by bus hired from One Community, Eastleigh. At Christmas time we organise a fully catered & subsidised Christmas lunch.

Age Concern Isle of Wight provides an information & advice service to older people both in our office and through outreach services around the Island.We offer support through Advocacy and Campaigning while a Welfare Benefits Service ensures clients receive all benefits to which they are entitled. We can provide escorted shopping or a Shopping service for the housebound. Our Befriending service can prevent an older person becoming isolated. Our Active Networks of Support programme now has 4 groups on the island providing a social environment in which to meet regularly. Our Home Safe service allows older people to remain in their homes by offering small repairs and fitting aids to security and mobility.
