    Objectives to preserve or enhance the quality of life of residents by campaigning for amenity provision. Involved in planning and development issues in order to monitor and comment on amenity issues. Amenity ranges from essential services (health, road, infrastructures, public transport) to sports community facilities, open spaces and informal leisure facilities. Also interested in town planning issues. Advice is provided to any resident who is affected by a planning application. Guidance provided on responding to/or objecting to planning applications. Interest in promoting civic pride and projects to improve the area.

    Formed in 1971 our Society is one of the oldest amateur mineral and fossil societies in the UK. The aims of the Society are to foster interest and expertise in the collecting, conservation and identification of minerals and fossils and, where possible, preserve and document the sites where they are found. We are a friendly group of people sharing a common interest in collecting, preserving and studying minerals and fossils. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at The Friends' Meeting House, Ordnance Road, Southampton starting at 19:30 to around 22:00. New faces are always welcome.     A group of volunteers that meet each Wednesday to carry out practical environmental improvement tasks for HCC and other local authorities and conservation organisations. The work includes footpath improvements, coppicing and minor country based constructions (e.g gates, fences and bridges). Training given where required!
