Aims and objectives:
A thriving well-established club affiliated to The Ramblers.
Services and activities offered:
A thriving well-established club affiliated to The Ramblers. With 150 or so walks being arranged each year, most walkers, whether newcomer or rambling or more experienced, can expect to find something of interest. Shorter walks are generally located within the Borough's area with longer walks venturing further afield into the rest of Hampshire including The New Forest, The Isle of Wight, Berks, Wilts, Surrey, Sussex and London. Long distance footpaths e.g. Avon Valley Path (Salisbury-Christchurch)are walked using coach travel to the start of and from end of the day's walk.
Restrictions:
Ramblers need to be able to cope with uneven and slippery surfaces, hills and stiles; and to maintain a pace of 2-2 1/2 mph over such terrain. Occasionally public transport is of use to access a walk but generally own transport is needed.
