Alton & District Sports Council
Advice to clubs arranging annual achievement awards to club members who have done well during the year, to enable them to maintain their sporting excellence. Arranging achievement awards and sporting events in our area. Advice to EHDC on sports matters and attendance at Compact and other meetings. Putting forward sports men and women to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Awards annually. Awarding small grants for sporting needs.

Basingstoke and Deane have strong twinning links with Alencon,(France) Euskirchen,(Germany) & Braine-L'Alleud (Belgium). Each year there are festivals of sport alternating between the countries with over 10 different sports and 120+ competitors from each town. As well as sport there are both educational and cultural links for all ages.The local sports council has strong partnerships with the borough council and a wide range of local sport league clubs and agencies and works closely with them to support sports development and recognise achievement.

Arranging weekly practices to play Ultimate Frisbee either outdoors in Summer or indoors in Winter. Develop knowledge and skills through weekly practices, and an opportunity to attend a number of tournaments throughout the year.

An Association which is responsible for the recruitment and development of cricket umpires and scorers in the Winchester area. Also responsible for appointment of umpires to local evening matches.
